The Blood of Dawnwalker, the anticipated new game from developer Rebel Wolves, which is composed of former CD Projekt Red staff including the lead director of The Witcher III, has gone gold. This means that core development of the game has been completed, and the vast majority of work on the project is now dedicated to bug fixes, marketing, and preparing for launch itself. The game will launch on September 3rd for PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S. Distribution of the game will be handled by none other than Bandai Namco.
The game itself will put us in the shoes of "Coen," who at the start of the game becomes a "Dawnwalker," a hybrid entity that transforms humans into vampires at night. Coen sets out on a mission to stop Brencis, a ruthless vampire who controls Coen's village and directly threatens his family. In keeping with the abilities of the Dawnwalkers, the game will allow us to experience Coen's day as a human and his night as a vampire, enabling us to approach every mission and the various situations we encounter as either human or vampire, with all that entails.
The game's combat system will emphasize defense and directional-based attacks (similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2), alongside a dedicated system for casting spells and special abilities that will only be available when Coen is in vampire form. The game will also feature a dedicated system called "Tempus Fugit" that gives you a 30 in-game day window to complete the mission to save Coen's family - for example, wandering the game's open world won't "waste" time from those 30 days, but completing various story missions, using Fast Travel, and other actions will. Additionally, the game will include multiple possible endings based on the choices you make along the way, including endings directly tied to the scenario where your time bank runs out.
