Trouble in Clusters? EA Cancels a Project from The Sims Franchise

Following the closure of BioWare and the cancellation of the new Mass Effect game, EA has reportedly canceled a new project in The Sims franchise codenamed Project Lotus. The company will now focus on Project Evergreen while downsizing the development team for skate.

Following the unfortunate announcement that parent company EA is shutting down BioWare and canceling the new game in the Mass Effect series, we now have another disappointing update: the company recently canceled a new project that was meant to be part of The Sims franchise. According to a report published by Bloomberg, the canceled project carried the codename “Project Lotus”.

EA announced the project's cancellation through an official letter sent to company employees, which also stated that the company will now focus on another project codenamed “Project Evergreen”. The company further announced it is downsizing the development team for the free-to-play game skate., which is currently in early access (likely the reason it was not canceled entirely). Additionally, EA stated that other projects it oversees will not be canceled, ranging from the EA Sports FC series to the continued active development and upgrading of Apex Legends. Development on the third game in the Star Wars Jedi series is also not expected to stop, nor are future projects in the Battlefield franchise.
