The ROG XBOX Ally X Gets a New and Improved Version

ROG unveiled the ROG XBOX Ally X20 at ComputeX this week, featuring an upgraded OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1400 nits peak brightness in HDR mode, along with TMR-based joysticks and a refreshed black-and-gold design.

The ComputeX expo kicked off this week, giving ROG the perfect opportunity to continue celebrating the brand's 20th anniversary. After the company revealed the ROG CROSSHAIR 2006 two weeks ago, it's now unveiling the ROG 20 Edition during the expo—a series of existing products getting special, upgraded versions. One of the products receiving an upgrade is the ROG XBOX Ally X console, which will arrive in a celebratory bundle together with the ROG XREAL R1 gaming augmented reality glasses.

The new model of the console will be called the ROG XBOX Ally X20, and its main innovation is the display, which is now an OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and brightness reaching up to 600 nits in SDR mode and a peak brightness of 1400 nits (!) in HDR mode. If the Ally X20's screen is similar to what we saw with the G14, for example, this is going to be a simply excellent gaming experience even in direct, particularly strong sunlight. Alongside the display upgrade, we're also getting joysticks based on TMR technology and a refreshed design that will now feature black-and-gold colors with a semi-transparent panel that gives a glimpse inside the console.

Together with the ROG XBOX Ally X20, quite a few more products from the ROG 20 Edition series were revealed, whose images can be seen here.
