The Division Resurgence just shadowdropped on PC for Free

Ubisoft's mobile Division game launched on PC without warning, despite repeatedly saying it would stay mobile-only. It's in early access for technical testing until August.

The Division Resurgence is a free-to-play mobile take on, well, The Division. Announced in 2022, it finally hit iOS and Android on March 31. Now, with zero fanfare, The Division Resurgence has launched for PC.

The quiet release could be tied to its early access status: Ubisoft says the PC release is "for technical testing ahead of its official launch in August". Good news for anyone who doesn't want to play on mobile, but strange considering there's been zero indication this PC version would exist until it appeared today.

Ubisoft wrote repeatedly in the game's "manifesto" about keeping it mobile-only: "Our objective in bringing the Division universe to mobile, is to enable more people worldwide to enjoy this open world experience whenever and wherever they want," reads part of the spiel.

Maybe Resurgence hasn't pulled enough players on mobile, leading to this sudden pivot. We aren't complaining - more The Division means more fun for us, which is never a bad thing.
