Starfield PS5 Version and New Expansions Revealed

Bethesda has officially announced that Starfield is coming to PS5 on April 7 for $50, alongside two new content expansions: the paid Terran Armada and the free Free Lanes update.

We've been hearing rumors about a PS5 version of Starfield for many months now. Each time it seemed like it was just around the corner, and then it didn't happen, but one thing was almost certain—a version like this was in development. During a livestream Bethesda held an hour ago, the company officially revealed the PS5 version, which will arrive very soon on April 7 at a relatively surprising price of $50 for the base version.

Like other Xbox games, Starfield is also getting an advanced port with a dedicated version for PS5 Pro that will feature two modes: the first—a performance mode that will prioritize higher FPS, while the second—Pro Visual Mode will prioritize graphical quality, though no details about it were provided. Alongside the PS5 launch, we're also getting two more content packs for the game. The first is the Terran Armada expansion, which will add new characters, enemies, locations, and missions to the game. It will be included free with the premium version of the game or cost $10 separately.

Along with Terran Armada, we'll also get Free Lanes, which will be a free expansion that "deepens the core Starfield experience for both new and returning players alike." Beyond the nice words, this expansion will introduce an interstellar travel system that will allow players to easily move between stars in the same solar system. Here too, we're expected to get accompanying content in the form of new locations, a new crew member, a new vehicle called the Moon Jumper, and a new set of missions.

As mentioned, Starfield for PS5 and the game's content expansions will launch on April 7.
