Screenshots of a Likely Canceled Assassin's Creed Game Set in China Have Leaked Online

New images and videos have surfaced online from a reportedly canceled game set in China called Assassin's Creed Destiny. The title was allegedly in development at Tencent's TiMi Studio Group and featured RPG elements similar to Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

MP1st recently published a series of images and videos from what was likely supposed to be a new Assassin's Creed game set in China. According to the report, the canceled project was titled "Assassin's Creed Destiny." Of course, this would not have been the first entry in the series to focus on China, as 2015's Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China allowed players to explore the country within the franchise's universe for the first time. Additionally, as of right now, we are still set to receive a new game set in China called "Assassin's Creed Jade," though that title is a mobile exclusive.

The leaked footage includes gameplay from what looks like a relatively early build of the project. It appears to showcase the franchise's current formula, which integrates role-playing elements as a core part of the gameplay loop, much like what we got in the excellent Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Images of various in-game weapons were also shared. The MP1st report claims that the studio meant to work on the game was TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent that also worked on part of the development for Assassin's Creed Jade. However, this project was supposed to be set in 206 BC, compared to Jade, which will take place in 215 BC. Currently, Ubisoft has stated that Jade remains in active development, though we have no real idea when it will actually hit the market.
