Rumor: Resident Evil Code: Veronica May Be Delayed
According to a reliable leaker, the remake may be pushed deep into 2027, potentially moving from an early-year release to a fall launch window.
Resident Evil is undoubtedly in a very interesting period right now. Requiem came out earlier this year not only to glowing reviews, but also to love from the general audience. The return of Leon Kennedy was warmly received, and now we're waiting to see where the series goes from here. Alongside Requiem, we also recently got the movie, which depending on who you ask, you'll probably get a different answer on how it is (according to our review, the film isn't particularly impressive). But beyond all that, we got the announcement for one of the most requested remakes in the series for Code Veronica. The original announcement claimed the game would arrive during 2027, but it seems we may have to wait a few more months for it.
The information here should of course be taken with a grain of salt, but according to Dusk Golem, a leaker with a relatively accurate history of leaks regarding the Resident Evil series, he claims that unfortunately he's heard from several different sources that there's a high chance the game won't release early in the year and has been pushed back to a launch window during the fall. He added that the information isn't one hundred percent accurate, but it could explain why the game didn't appear at all during the recent Tokyo Game Show. He also added that to the best of his knowledge, the developers made changes to the game at relatively late stages of development, which could result in additional time the game will need in development. Finally, he also emphasizes that by the same token, Capcom never gave an official release date for the game, only a fairly wide window within 2027, so even if the game is delayed, we don't really know about it.
Resident Evil Code Veronica is one of the most requested remakes in the series. It's a game that came out for Playstation 2 and Dreamcast and hasn't been available on a modern console since the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. How long will we have to wait for news about this remake? We'll probably have to wait and find out! Until we get official announcements regarding the game's release date, what do you think about this? Hoping to see the game as soon as possible?
