R.O.B Officially Revealed as Part of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Is a Smash Bros Film on the Way?
Nintendo's upcoming Mario Galaxy movie has revealed R.O.B as the first character from outside the Mario universe
We didn't need many reasons to get excited about the upcoming Mario Bros movie, especially since it adapts one of the best games of all time - Mario Galaxy. But last year in an interesting slip of the tongue, actor Keegan-Michael Key, the voice of Toad in the film, claimed it would include interesting characters from the past not only of Mario, but of Nintendo in general, which started rumors that the film was set to open the door to a movie about the beloved Smash Bros brand. Today we can announce that even before the film comes out, the door is already open.
Nintendo has launched a companion website for the film called Gateway Galaxy, which contains a puzzle that anyone who solves it gets access to an exciting scene where the first character revealed is not from the Mario universe but from Nintendo's past - the robot R.O.B. The robot is a recurring character in all the Smash Bros games, so it seems this is how they chose to show us that the option for an ensemble film exists. Now all that's left is for us to guess who the next contender will be.
Along with the scene, the final trailer for the film was also revealed before its release on April 2nd.
