Restore Retro Games to Glory in Cozy Game Restoration
Cozy Game Restoration is a simple yet satisfying game where you clean and restore retro game cartridges, removing dust, stickers, scratches, and grime using various tools like toothbrushes, cotton swabs, and UV light.
Over the past few weeks, one game keeps popping up in my feed: Cozy Game Restoration, a simple game where we need to clean and restore retro game cartridges. The gameplay loop here is pretty straightforward but very satisfying. First, we buy a box with a particular game, then after opening the box we see the game, which is usually covered in dust, stubborn stickers, scratches, and grime. That's where we get to work, with several tools at our disposal to clean that game and restore it to the best cosmetic condition possible.
After happily watching a ton of videos of the game, this past weekend its playtest began, which also gave me the chance to try it out. The playtest includes 8 games and it's already shaping up to be one of the most relaxing and satisfying games I've played this year, especially after I managed to find and clean a glue stain or dust that was stuck in one of the grooves—a cleaning that brought the game to 100% cleanliness. As I mentioned, we have several different tools at our disposal for the restoration, like tweezers for peeling off stickers, cotton swabs for removing glue and dust, a toothbrush that lets us scrub stubborn grime, toothpaste to help restore scratches, and ultraviolet light to find defects that haven't been treated yet. After we finish working on the game, we can proudly display it in our room, and it looks like the full game will also have an economic element with buying and selling games to earn more money. If you're looking for a satisfying game to turn your brain off with for a bit, I recommend keeping an eye on Cozy Game Restoration.
