Report: Bloober Reveals Psychological Thriller Based on Star Trek

Bloober Team has announced Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a psychological thriller co-developed with Paramount Games Studio following Ro Laren as she crashes on an unknown planet and faces monstrous mutations and a soul-stealing entity.

One of the biggest studios built in recent years is Bloober Team. The Polish studio was founded in 2008, but only relatively recently has it made a significant leap both in the quality of its games and in their size and depth. The studio's excellent streak of successes has given it the ability to grow in headcount and in the number of projects it's working on simultaneously, making it today one of the busiest studios around. We already know that Bloober is working on a remake of the first Silent Hill and on a new expansion for Cronos, but alongside those, the studio is now revealing a new game called Star Trek: Shadow Frontier.

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier is being co-developed by Bloober Team alongside the recently established Paramount Games Studio. The game will follow Ro Laren, who will be portrayed in the game by Michelle Forbes, who also plays the character in Star Trek: Picard. There are still quite a few details unknown about the game, but from its reveal trailer and information released afterward, we know that after responding to a distress signal, Ro crashes on an unknown planet. As Ro explores the planet, she discovers its story and encounters survivors, she'll have to contend with monstrous mutations and a hostile climate, and if that's not enough, the game will also feature a type of entity that will try to steal Ro's soul. Bloober's CEO said: "We've been waiting a long time to share what we've been working on. As devoted fans of science fiction, Star Trek has always held a special place in our hearts. By combining that passion with what we do best, horror, we've partnered with Paramount to create something truly unique: a new adventure set in a beloved universe, enriched with our signature layer of dark psychological thriller. We're truly excited about this journey, and our hope is to honor Star Trek's legacy in a way that feels respectful yet refreshingly different."

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier is expected to release in 2027 for PC, current-gen consoles, and the Switch 2.
