Official: First GTA VI Gameplay Revealed

After months of anticipation, Rockstar has officially unveiled the first gameplay footage for GTA VI in a 27-minute video captured on PS5, showcasing the relationship between protagonists Jason and Lucia, gameplay mechanics, and the expansive Vice City world.

We were like dreamers

The entire gaming industry has been waiting for this moment for long months, and here it is—the official reveal of GTA VI gameplay. Unfortunately, the event happened behind Netflix's paywall and with a delay of several hours before being uploaded to YouTube, and this whole affair could have been much more exciting if we hadn't received a massive wave of leaked gameplay footage from the game last week. But The Show Must Go On, and here we've arrived at the moment when the gameplay was finally released.

The released gameplay is 27 minutes long and was captured on the standard PS5 console. The video is essentially our first official look at the game and how it functions in a much less edited form than what we've received until now. It shows us quite a bit of what to expect from GTA VI, centered around the love story between Jason and Lucia and how their relationship will function, as well as how the seamless switching between them will work. Additionally, we see the Dead Eye system returning from Red Dead Redemption 2 in action. Beyond that, and as befitting GTA trailers, we saw tons from the game world (including the underwater world), the ways it and the NPCs within it will respond to you and the different ways we can approach them (again, like in RDR2), a great variety of different types of vehicles, aircraft, and watercraft. At the beginning of the trailer, we saw what appeared to be part of some mission where we're collecting drugs for Bobby, but then the whole deal goes sideways with a police raid on the drug lab. From there on, we saw various parts from the game, some from the open world and others taken from different missions. We saw the use of cover, different weapon types, how to break into cars on the street, the option to choose what to drink from the fridge, melee combat, police chases, parties, strange people in the streets, lots of GTA humor and cynicism, and that's just a short list of everything that was shown.

GTA VI launches on November 19 for current-gen consoles.
