Official: Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas Remakes Are in Development Alongside Fallout 5
Bethesda has officially confirmed that remakes of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development, while also revealing details about Creation Engine 3, The Elder Scrolls VI, and Fallout 5.
Rumors about remakes of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been circulating for years now, with various reports popping up every few months claiming development progress, only to disappear just as quickly. A few months ago, it seemed we were on the verge of a Fallout 3 Remake reveal at the end of Fallout's second TV season, but as we know, that didn't happen and we were left with disappointment and a good lesson in patience. It must be said that despite the abundance of rumors surrounding both games, until now we hadn't received any official confirmation.
But "until now" is the key phrase, because on Friday, Bethesda published a lengthy statement detailing the various projects the company is working on. The announcement includes many exciting details, including the reveal that Bethesda is working on the next generation of its game engine - Creation Engine 3, "which will be the foundation for the next generation of Bethesda's RPGs." According to what was published, the new engine will be the basis for The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5, which are being developed on it, giving the development team new tools, rendering capabilities, and systems. We can only hope it will have fewer bugs compared to the company's previous and infamous engine.

Regarding these two massive games, it was stated that Fallout 5 is currently in pre-production stages and is expected to arrive after The Elder Scrolls VI, which was described as the company's main development project at the moment, with most of the team invested in working on it. The game is on schedule and the team is "playing it every day." Bethesda also wrote and essentially confirmed reports that Obsidian is joining the development of a new Fallout project, though it's not known at this stage which project is being referred to.

At the end of the announcement, it was noted that Fallout 76, Starfield, and The Elder Scrolls Online are expected to continue receiving new content in the future and that the company isn't finished working on them yet.
