New Story Expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is in Development

Following the game's massive success in its first weekend, with 5 million copies sold, Capcom has announced that a new story expansion is currently in development.

After the game's massive success in its first weekend, additional content is now in development.

There's no doubt about the success of Resident Evil Requiem. Two days before its release, we were able to tell you ourselves that the game was going to be a huge hit, but not only that—in its first weekend, the game already reached an impressive sales milestone of 5 million copies, and it's still going strong. One criticism that hasn't escaped the notice of various players so far is actually the fact that the game is a bit dry in terms of content. The story itself is great, but after finishing it, aside from a new difficulty level and unlocking bonuses, there's not much else to do in the game. Well, the developers at Capcom are aware of this, and Koshi Nakanishi, the game's director, has released a special message to fans.

The director opens his message with gratitude to the fans who brought the game to its impressive first weekend sales numbers, and the first thing he talks about is the arrival of a photo mode that wasn't released with the game and will come as part of a future update. The next thing he mentions is a new mini-game that will arrive in the game during May. Koshi doesn't specifically mention the word Mercenaries, but there's something to look forward to. At the end of his message comes the anticipated announcement that a new story expansion is currently in development and will expand the world of Resident Evil Requiem. What will this expansion focus on? Rumors about it started circulating last week and we don't have official confirmation on the matter, but according to Koshi Nakanishi, we'll need to wait a while longer until we get the aforementioned expansion.

I'll note that the previous game in the series, Resident Evil Village, came out in May 2021, while its anticipated expansion, Shadows of Rose, was released in October 2022, more than a year after the game's release. While I hope we won't have to wait too long for the announced Requiem expansion to come out, it's also worth knowing that this expansion could take several good months, but at least there's something to look forward to.
