New Gameplay from WARDOGS Revealed

WARDOGS showcased new gameplay footage at the Future Games Show, revealing helicopter combat, sniper gameplay, and infantry raids, alongside 35 minutes of alpha gameplay demonstrating the game's economic system and vehicle variety.

It's been a few months since WARDOGS was revealed and there are still quite a few questions about it. Personally, I'm very interested in this game as it seems to be trying to bring a new genre that doesn't really exist to the forefront. Yesterday, as part of the Future Games Show (one of the side events of SGF), we got a new gameplay trailer from WARDOGS that finally gives us a deeper understanding of it. The trailer was admittedly short at just a minute and a half, but even that was enough to show us helicopter gameplay, sniper fire, infantry raids, and compound combat.

But alongside the definitely interesting gameplay trailer that was revealed, we got another 35 minutes of gameplay from the game's alpha. In this video we got much more information that didn't appear in the trailer, and you can see how the game actually behaves, from the start of the round where you need to arm yourself and choose which weapons and how much ammunition you'll take with you, to purchasing vehicles and helicopters. At the beginning of the video you can get a taste of the vehicle variety with 13 different vehicles (there may be more in the full version of the game) ranging from tractors to tanks. In the helicopter category you can currently see about six different helicopters. These give us a glimpse into the game's economic system which, as you may recall, will be based on kills that give the player money which they can spend on weapon upgrades, additional equipment, and vehicles. The gameplay also showed us intense combat, firing missiles at helicopters, breaching doors with explosive charges, and some of the actions you'll be able to perform on other players to help them, like dragging them to cover and reviving them.

We still haven't received a release date for WARDOGS, but we do know it's expected to launch into early access during the upcoming summer months, so there's not much longer to wait.
