New Expansion Called Reclaim Launched for RoadCraft

The Reclaim expansion for RoadCraft adds two new maps, seven new vehicles including a wrecking ball demolisher, and building capabilities, but significantly increases difficulty by offering less guidance than the base game.

One of the games I loved most last year was RoadCraft. The game that puts us in the shoes of a heavy machinery operator is the dream come true of every kid playing in a sandbox, giving you more or less complete freedom to operate those machines and carry out the restoration missions required after a disaster strikes a certain location in whatever way you want. Now, almost a year after the game's launch, we're getting a new expansion called Reclaim, and after a few hours I've played with it (and this is an opportunity to say thanks to the developers), I think it's a breath of fresh air with some good content additions to the game.

I'll say that my first impression of Reclaim is good, but it's definitely an expansion I'd only recommend to players once they've finished the game or at least played it a lot and have good control over it. Unlike various expansions we see that simply add more content, Reclaim adds more content but also raises the difficulty level of the game. With the expansion we get two new maps/missions, but unlike the base game, here we get much less guidance and help regarding what needs to be done and how to do it, as the player needs to go and explore the map on their own and start piecing the puzzle together themselves. Personally, I liked this free-form approach, but it's much more challenging and there were times I wandered around for several hours trying to figure out what to do next to progress, especially when it came to obtaining resources like concrete or metal beams.

Alongside the two maps, we also get seven new vehicles, which is an excellent amount with each one providing something new, but the most exciting addition is the Dragline Demolisher that will let players operate a wrecking ball and demolish buildings—another new feature we got here that gives players an additional resource-gathering capability. As a complementary feature, we also got the ability to build new structures on the map. It should be said that both of these capabilities are limited only to buildings and locations that the developers determined, but they're nice additions to the game that give the player a feeling they're influencing and changing the world much more.

Reclaim is already available now, and if you loved RoadCraft I recommend it for deepening the experience, and it's also available in a bundle for players who want to purchase it together with the game.
