Microsoft Announces Xbox Console Price Increases

Microsoft is raising Xbox console prices starting August 1st, following similar moves by Nintendo and Sony due to the ongoing memory chip crisis affecting hardware costs worldwide.

If you've been thinking about buying a console, now's the time

We've been in the midst of a wave of hardware price increases for several months now, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. After Nintendo and Sony announced that they're each raising the prices of their consoles due to the memory crisis driving up costs, it's now Microsoft's turn to do the same with Xbox. The new prices will take effect starting August 1st, so if you've been thinking about buying an Xbox, now is a great time to do it.

VersionOld PriceNew Price
Series X 1TB - Disc Version$650$800
Series X 1TB - Digital Version$600$750
Series S 512GB$400$500
Series S 1TB$450$600

You can see that the Series X received an increase of about $150 across both storage versions, while the Series S got a $150 increase for the 1TB version and $100 for the smaller version. We haven't yet received the updated prices for the consoles locally, but it looks like those will arrive soon. It appears Microsoft tried to postpone the inevitable as long as possible, hoping the memory market would recover and return to normal prices, but it seems that's not going to happen anytime soon, and its consoles are now rising to the highest prices we've seen. In addition to the price increases, Microsoft also announces that it's discontinuing the Series X 2TB Galaxy Black version
