Lead Actress in Tides of Annihilation Steps Down Due to Health Reasons

Jennifer English, known for her excellent voice acting roles as Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has stepped down from her role as the lead character in Tides of Annihilation, the major upcoming project she had been working on. English informed the game's developer, Eclipse Glow Games, in June 2026 that she would be unable to continue portraying Gwendolyn, the main protagonist, due to personal health reasons.

In a statement shared via her Instagram story, English explained her decision: "I've recently felt the need to slow down and reassess the commitments I've taken on. I need to take time to rest and properly care for my mental and physical health."

Despite stepping down from voice recording duties, English will remain involved with the project in an advisory capacity. With her support and recommendation, the developer has hired another voice actress with recent gaming experience, though her name has not yet been revealed. What we do know is that the new voice actress is currently recording her lines for a demo version that players will be able to try at the Gamescom 2026 event, where they'll hear Gwendolyn's new voice for the first time this coming August.

Eclipse Glow Games responded by saying, "We completely understand and respect Jennifer's decision to prioritize her personal health. We are also deeply grateful for the care and responsibility she has shown throughout this entire process." Tides of Annihilation is Eclipse Glow Games' first project, and it still has no release window. It is expected to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
