Just Before ONL: Paradox Interactive's New Game Has Been Revealed

And the secret of the game's existence came straight from the developer

In just a few hours, ONL will begin—one of the biggest gaming events of the year. This year's ONL is expected to be packed with trailers for familiar games as well as exciting new announcements for titles we haven't seen before. Unlike previous years when it leaked early, this time the list of games expected to be announced has been kept well under wraps (at least for now). But it seems not all secrets are kept forever, and one of the games set to be announced has been revealed before the event.

A few days ago, a countdown began on the Paradox Interactive website for the reveal of the company's new Grand Strategy game. The countdown is ticking down to ONL, so we got our first confirmation of when we'll see the game, but beyond a looping video showing a sandstorm in the desert, we didn't get any more information. However, a Reddit user managed to spot a new game called Afterworld in the company's forums, listed under the category of games that haven't been announced yet. Along with that image, another user reported that he managed to access a Discord server for the game, which contained the following description: "Lead a tribe of survivors, rediscover ancient technology, manage wasteland settlements, and wage wars of conquest and political struggles in the afterworld, an original post-apocalyptic survival strategy game." The combination of all these elements and a background image that also leaked point in one very real direction—a new game called Afterworld that's expected to be post-apocalyptic and will require us to lead a society that managed to survive the disaster. As mentioned, ONL is taking place in just a few hours, so there's not much longer to wait until the reveal.
