Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era Release Date Revealed

Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, a love letter to Heroes III developed by indie studio Unfrozen, will launch in early access on April 30th.

One of the game series that defined my childhood is Heroes of Might & Magic. The third game in the series was simply a masterpiece that still holds a large and devoted player base to this day, though personally I fell more under the spell of the fourth game, which was also amazing. But since we got those two games, the brand has experienced several weak launches until the seventh game in 2015 was so mediocre and bug-ridden that it was decided to put the brand on ice, and we barely heard about it since.

But as I mentioned, the third game in the series still maintains a very passionate community to this day. So during Gamescom 2024, Ubisoft (which owns the brand) relatively quietly announced a new game for the series called Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era. Unlike previous games, Olden Era won't be developed by Ubisoft but by an independent studio called Unfrozen, made up of die-hard fans of the series. The studio presented Ubisoft with a prototype of the game they wanted to create, and after convincing them, development began. From the very first look, it's clear that Olden Era is essentially a love letter and remake of Heroes 3, with a return to the roots and everything that made the series so good and beloved. The game will feature six different Factions, the ability to build and upgrade castles, resource management and turn-based battles, along with a huge world to explore and conquer. Now we're getting the announcement that Olden Era will launch in early access at the end of this month, on April 30th. Personally, I'm very excited for the launch and I plan to try the game and see if it has that magic that managed to keep me up all night before school when I was a kid.
