Has the Venom Game Been Cancelled?

Voice actor Nadji Jeter claims Insomniac's Venom game was cancelled following Tony Todd's death, but Bloomberg's Jason Schreier disputes this, stating the studio was still discussing the game at GDC 2025.

We've been hearing about the Venom game for several years now, and to this day we haven't really seen anything from it. Despite this, it does come up in various reports claiming it's still in active development, but no one can pinpoint the expected timeline for it, especially as most of Insomniac's efforts are currently invested in Wolverine, which is expected to launch this September. But new reports emerging now are calling Venom's existence into question.

In a recent interview, Nadji Jeter, the voice actor for Miles Morales, said that the planned Venom game was cancelled following the death of Tony Todd, who voiced Venom in Spider-Man 2. Jeter further claims that alongside plans for a full game centered around Venom, the studio also wanted to develop an expansion for Spider-Man 2 that would expand the gameplay segments with Venom, but as mentioned, these were cancelled. However, Jason Schreier from Bloomberg claims this statement is inaccurate, along with developers who stated the studio was still discussing the game at GDC 2026 (which took place in early March), which could indicate the situation is more complicated than it appears and not necessarily that the game has been cancelled. As of now, we haven't received any official statement from the studio, and all we can do is continue to follow the story.
