Gallipoli's New Release Date Revealed, Launching August 20th
BlackMill Games has announced that Gallipoli, their WWI FPS set during the Battle of Gallipoli, will now launch on August 20th after being delayed from its original May 21st release date to implement player feedback and improvements.
Throughout the year there are quite a few games that might not grab the biggest headlines, but I'm personally looking forward to them, with most of my anticipation for these games based on some personal itch. That's also why I'm waiting for Gallipoli, which sits right at the intersection of war history that I love so much and FPS games with large-scale battles that have always been my bread and butter. Gallipoli comes to us from BlackMill Games, the studio that brought us its big brothers in recent years: Tannenberg, Verdun, and Isonzo, all three of which tell stories of major and famous campaigns from World War I, and so will Gallipoli, which will let us fight in the Battle of Gallipoli where the British and French fought against the Ottomans and Germans.
Gallipoli was originally supposed to launch on May 21st, but following extensive feedback from players and a major round of improvements the studio wanted to make to the game, it was delayed to an unknown date during the summer months. Now the new release date of August 20th has been revealed alongside all those improvements the development team has been working on, including refinements to weapon sounds, gunplay improvements, new roles that can be played including medic, and more. Gallipoli is releasing for PC and current-gen consoles and will support crossplay for its battles, which will feature two teams of 25 players. If everything I've told you about Gallipoli sounds interesting, I'll add that this is a game on the more realistic and hardcore side of FPS games, but based on what we know from BlackMill Games, it's also expected to be very rewarding. You'll be able to read our first impressions of the game very soon!
