Crash Landing: The Duskbloods Beta Shut Down Early on Day One

The weekend arrived, we were all excited, the closed beta for The Duskbloods had begun, my invitation with my activation code was already in hand, the game was installed on my Switch 2, the first connection window arrived, I went to log in and... I couldn't connect to the servers. Why couldn't I connect to The Duskbloods beta servers? Well? Turns out I wasn't the only one who ran into this problem with the beta today. The Duskbloods beta—the anticipated PvPvE game from FromSoft coming exclusively to Switch 2 (at least for now)—kicked off its beta and, similar to the Elden Ring beta, it's available during specific time windows. But if, like me, you tried to get in around 3:00 PM, you likely ran into trouble connecting to the servers.

The first beta connection window began on Friday and was supposed to run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, but based on reactions online, it seems not many managed to connect to the game's servers at all, which led the developer to announce that the game's servers were shut down that day earlier than planned, along with uncertainty about when the servers would next be available. The public statement read: "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to those who were waiting for The Duskbloods network test due to server issues. We regret to inform you that server access for today has been closed. We will continue working on server stability and will update on the next server access at a later time."

The wording of the announcement wasn't entirely clear and it wasn't obvious whether the next beta test windows would be available, but we're happy to report that yesterday evening the beta worked as planned without any issues.
