CD Projekt Red CEO Thinks Cyberpunk 2077's Damage Still Hasn't Been Fully Repaired

Despite updates, strong sales, and improved reviews, CD Projekt Red's CEO admits the studio hasn't fully regained player trust after Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch, and hopes The Witcher 4 can restore confidence.

Hopefully The Witcher 4 will be better

As exciting as the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was, bringing to an end many long years of waiting and anticipation, it was simply terrible and packed with very serious bugs that even led to its removal from Sony's store. Since then, Cyberpunk has recovered with updates that fixed all the issues and added a huge amount of additional content, including the Phantom Liberty expansion that deepened the game even further. The game has really come a long way to this day, and it's easy to forget the problems it suffered from at the start and the state in which CD Projekt Red launched it.

In a recent interview, the studio's CEO, Michal Nowakowski, said that despite the updates and improved reviews alongside particularly strong sales figures (over 35 million copies sold), he hopes The Witcher 4 will be able to restore trust. According to him, he's not 100% convinced the studio has completed its recovery process (in terms of player trust), as there are players who have completely lost their faith, something he describes as fair. Regarding The Witcher 4, Nowakowski says the team currently working on the game is much more experienced and battle-tested, and can handle future challenges much better than the Cyberpunk team at the time.

As of now, we have no information about The Witcher 4's release date.
