All the Announcements and News from the June 2026 State of Play!

Sony kicked off summer gaming season with a massive State of Play event featuring over an hour of announcements, including an in-depth look at Marvel's Wolverine, new God of War and Until Dawn titles, and release dates for numerous highly anticipated games.

The moment has arrived—Sony officially opened the summer event season with a State of Play showcase. In the days leading up to the event, we heard plenty of rumors about its length and what would be shown, while officially we knew it would run over an hour and that Marvel's Wolverine would receive an in-depth presentation. All of this raised expectations considerably heading into the event, and as a company that loves to set the tone and pace, excitement was definitely at its peak. So here's everything we got from the June 2026 State of Play!

Marvel's Wolverine

Starting as strong as possible with gameplay footage from Marvel's Wolverine! The presentation showed off the simply stunning graphics we can expect from this title, and it definitely doesn't hold back on the blood. The gameplay gave us a look at one of the missions, offering a taste of the level design, combat system, and the lethal ways we'll be able to choose to take down enemies. One thing that's clearly visible is how much Wolverine resembles the Spider-Man games. I don't think it surprises anyone that Insomniac Games took the excellent foundation they already have and adapted it for a new superhero, but if you were expecting to see something completely new here, that's not quite the case. Finally, we got several more short cinematic clips from other parts of the game. As is known, Marvel's Wolverine will launch on September 15th, with pre-orders opening at the end of the event.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Another game we've already seen but are always happy to see more of. Marvel Tokon is coming this August, and its new presentation showed us Doctor Doom's team and the unique abilities each character brings to the battle arena. The game looks simply excellent with action-packed battles and great animation, and we can't wait for its launch on August 6th.

Rayman Legends Retold

Rayman! After being leaked in almost every possible way and having the surprise ruined, we're seeing Rayman's official return to the spotlight. The new game is a remake of Rayman Legends that's received a fantastic facelift with exceptional graphical quality and visual details, and after such a long time craving a new Rayman game, it's finally here. After the game's official reveal, we also got a release date coming on October 1st.

Bancho The Chef

If you thought we were about to get Dave the Diver 2, well no, but also kind of yes. The announcement is for a new game called Bancho The Chef, which is a prequel to Bancho's days before he met Dave and became the head chef of the famous sushi restaurant. Here we'll be just starting out in Japan and will begin learning more or less from scratch how to prepare sushi in a small street restaurant.

Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen

While we're still at the beginning of the event, this is one of the more special games we've seen. Kemuri falls under the classic definition of a Japanese action game, with short gameplay clips showing us its combat system that looks simply insane with quite a few different abilities for each character. Additionally, the game will support co-op mode for up to three players when it arrives sometime in 2027.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

After the reveal during The Game Awards, we're seeing Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis again. The remake of the first game is progressing excellently, and we got a new trailer reminding us that soon we'll be able to embark on new-old adventures with Lara Croft. The highlight is when this will happen, as it was revealed that the game will launch on February 12, 2027.

The Lost Wild - True Fear is Primal

Who had dinosaurs on their event bingo card? Great, because it's hard to say what we actually saw with the announcement of The Lost Wild. What's certain is that we can expect a horror game with dinosaurs, and finally a 2027 launch window was revealed. We'll wait to see more of this intriguing game.

Phantom Blade Zero

We've gone through about half the event without a Souls-like game, so here's the time to break that streak. Phantom Blade Zero shows new signs of life with a fresh teaser ahead of a more in-depth event this summer that will give us story details as well as new gameplay. Personally, I tried the game for about an hour at the last Gamescom and it definitely looks very interesting.

Dune: Awakening

The excellent MMO game that already launched last year now gets Sony's stage to announce it's coming to PlayStation along with a new single-player mode on September 22nd.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered

The Dynasty Warriors 3 remake also makes an appearance to remind fans that it and its massive battles are still on the way, arriving October 1st.

No Rest for the Wicked

After a relatively long period in early access, the full launch of No Rest for the Wicked arrives with lots of new content alongside cross-play support. All this goodness will come to us sometime this October.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

This is Capcom's year and it's not planning to stop its excellent streak. After Pragmata, it's Onimusha's turn to get the full spotlight, and now we're getting a new cinematic gameplay trailer along with a release date of September 25th.

And if you can't wait, you'll be happy to know a demo is available right now!

Silent Hill: Townfall

We still don't know much about Silent Hill: Townfall, and even after the new trailer there are still plenty of questions. But what we do know is when it's coming out, and that's September 24th.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

Yes, this also isn't a new announcement, but personally I could watch Ace Combat trailers for hours. The new trailer showed us some of what to expect in the new game, as we'll need to attack air, sea, and ground targets while engaging in dogfights as part of a massive global conflict. If you're a flight enthusiast, it looks like there's definitely something to look forward to when the game launches on October 2nd, with early access starting September 29th.

Stuntman: Hollywood

Fast and Furious? Mad Max? Carmageddon? Back to the Future? Many questions came up while watching this trailer, but the explanation is much simpler. As the name suggests, in Stuntman: Hollywood we'll play as a Hollywood stuntman who needs to perform plenty of stunts to make movies look as good as possible. Unfortunately, we didn't get a release date here.

ILL

After many long months of silence when it wasn't clear at all what was happening with it, ILL appears again with new gameplay footage. The game looks simply excellent and terrifying at the same time, with a wide variety of different zombies and challenges we'll need to face in 2027 when the game launches.

Control Resonant

The Control sequel makes an especially mesmerizing appearance with a new trailer showing us more of its story. But the really big announcement is the release date coming on September 24th.

Marathon

Sony is still pushing Marathon with full force with a new trailer for the game's second season, which has already begun. As part of it, we got a new area, some new weapons, and more additional items.

Until Dawn 2

We're already close to the end of the event, and Sony pulls out a surprise in the form of Until Dawn 2. True, the game will be developed by a different studio than the first game, but it looks like the same DNA is still here. This time we'll play as a group of ghost hunters heading to an isolated tropical island hiding plenty of secrets. The game's trailer showed us it places a very strong emphasis on difficult choices that could lead to the entire group dying or surviving. Until Dawn 2 will arrive in 2027.

God of War: Laufey

After starting the event with a massive title, Sony closes it with another one—a new God of War game. The new game's reveal came in the form of 20 minutes of gameplay, something very unusual. As the rumors claimed, we're playing this time as Faye—Kratos's wife, with the game beginning at her death that happened in God of War (2018). That game also started this way, essentially making this a game with a parallel storyline to 2018's. The gameplay showed us relatively well the combat system that's somewhat reminiscent of Devil May Cry, along with the world design that Faye is stuck in, which appears to blend several different mythologies like Mongolian and Egyptian mythology, as she searches for her way back home. The long gameplay here is meant to convince us that there can be a God of War game where Kratos isn't the main character, and in my opinion, it's a very interesting new direction. Unfortunately, we didn't get any launch window.
