15 Minutes of Gameplay from Black Myth: Zhong Kui Revealed

Warming up the engines ahead of a broader reveal?

A year after it was officially unveiled on stage at the Opening Night Live ceremony of Gamescom 2025, Game Science has officially released 15 full minutes of gameplay from its new game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui. The game, which officially began development in June of last year, will be another entry in the Black Myth series, best known of course for its debut title, Black Myth: Wukong, which launched in 2024.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui will take its inspiration, as the name suggests, from the character of Zhong Kui, who, much like the character and story of Sun Wukong, is considered a key figure in Chinese folklore. That said, the game's developer has officially stated that unlike Black Myth: Wukong, the new entry in the series will not draw inspiration from any specific book related to the character of Zhong Kui, which raises the obvious question of how the character will be portrayed in the actual game. The 15 minutes revealed include cinematic sequences alongside pure gameplay segments, and here too, similar to the previous game in the series, one of the most striking aspects on display is the simply exceptional graphical presentation the game exhibits. In terms of gameplay, it appears we'll once again get combat-based gameplay featuring challenging fights against brutal enemies, alongside story sequences that will deepen our connection with the various characters and showcase the game world we'll be exploring.

As of this writing, there is no expected release date for the game, but we do know it will launch on PC and consoles.
